things I know

...there is fur on my clothes. It's gonna be there and I'm honestly just not gonna do much about it. It's not an invitation for you to touch me and try to brush it off. It's the only part of my dog-children I get to take with me everywhere, don't take that from me. ...how to fix things in my house. Me telling you there's a problem doesn't mean I don't know what to do about it. I'm just sharing. My mom likes to explain things like this to me that I already know, as if she didn't raise me watching her do all of it and learning from her. She owned more tools than my dad. I guess she wants to feel helpful or something (hi, mom). ...that that Clash song is really good. Of course it's good. It's the Clash. They are perfect. ...whatever you're about to mansplain to me. I definitely know that. I'm walking away now. ...I could just watch the movie. The book is better though so I'm fine, thanks. ...I don't look my age. But...

what's easy for you is rocket science to me

One of my greatest pet peeves in life is that moment when you're just not getting something and someone goes to show you or teach you and they say " it's so easy! You just do blah blah blah!". Clearly, I do not find this thing easy or we wouldn't be here having this conversation, most terrible tutor person ever. I think I caught myself saying it once and almost actually slapped myself. I feel like a lot of phrases fall into this theme and are just as annoying. Things like... "Just do it." "Don't worry, be happy" "If you wait 'til you're ready, you'll never do it" "Anyone can do it" "Sink or swim" You get the idea. Aside from the obvious frustration of feeling like someone just called you stupid with more words because something you don't understand is all crystal clear to them (by the way, why do we say "crystal" clear? Are most crystal's actually clear? ...
